Behold The Savior - Day 12
Today’s Devotional: In The Fullness of Time
Friday, December 12
“But when the fullness of time had come, God sent forth his Son, born of woman, born under the law, to redeem those who were under the law, so that we might receive adoption as sons.” Galatians 4:4–5
Have you ever wondered why Jesus came when He did? Why not earlier? Why not during the glory days of David or after the return from exile? Why was He born in an oppressed nation under the rule of the world’s largest empire?
Paul tells us that Jesus came in the fullness of time, at the exact moment God planned since before the world began. He is above time and over time. Most of us want God to work now. When we face financial strain, we want help now. When we are facing a physical issue, we want healing now. We can’t see or understand what God is doing.
When Jesus was born, the Romans had built roads across the entire known world. They had learned from studying previous empires that they needed to be able to get to the far reaches of the empire quickly to put down any uprisings. Also, at the time, almost the whole world spoke the same language. This took place because of the Hellenization of the world under Alexander the Great, 300 years earlier. Because the whole world spoke Greek (and because of the Roman roads), the Gospel was ready to explode! God knows what He’s doing.
The orchestration of the first Christmas could not be better. We can have hope in His perfect timing and plan. We can relax and trust in the sovereignty of God.

Reflection:
• In what area of your life do you need to trust in God’s timing?
• How does the sovereignty of God bring you hope today?
Prayer:
Thank you for sending Jesus in the fullness of time. Help me to trust your timing in every area of my life. I know that you have good plans for me and not for evil. I put my hope and trust in you. In Jesus’ name, amen.
