Behold The Savior - Day 15

Today’s Devotional: Prince of Peace

Monday, December 15

“For to us a child is born, to us a son is given; and the government shall be upon his shoulder, and his name shall be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.” Isaiah 9:6

Isaiah doesn’t just tell us that Jesus brings peace, but he tells us who Jesus is. He is the Prince of Peace. Wherever He rules, peace follows.

Before Christ, humanity was not just restless but we were at war with God. Our sin separated us from Him. Jesus made peace by taking our sin and removing the barrier between God and man. Peace does not mean that we have healthy kids and money in the bank account. It means that our eternal soul is at peace with God.

We can’t earn this peace by being strong or faithful enough. We enter into it by trusting in the finished work of Christ. The battle for peace has already been won. When Jesus rules, peace begins to spread to the rest of our life.

Peace is not found by controlling everything, fixing every problem or avoiding suffering. Peace is found by submitting to the reign of Christ. Where He rules as King, anxiety is broken. Where He reigns, fear becomes afraid. If your heart feels restless today, come to the Prince of Peace. Let Him reign.

Advent reminds us that Peace has come and His name is Jesus.

Reflection:

• What area of your life do you need to surrender to the Prince of Peace?

• How does knowing God bring calm to your heart today?

Prayer:

Dear Jesus, rule in my life today. Thank you for forgiving my sins and removing anxious thoughts. Help me to trust in Your rule and reign. Amen.
