Today’s Devotional: Peace With Us
Friday, December 19
“Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in every way. The Lord be with you all.” 2 Thessalonians 3:16
Paul doesn’t say, “May better circumstances give you peace,” but “May the Lord of peace Himself give you peace.” Peace flows from the person of Jesus Himself.
“Peace at all times and in every way” includes regular days and hard days. Peace in celebration and peace in sorrow. Peace when prayers are answered quickly and peace during the times of waiting. God did not send peace as an idea, but as a Person. This is what makes Christmas so powerful.
He would be named Jesus, meaning “The Lord saves.” The reason for His coming was so that “He would save His people from their sins.” The child in Mary’s womb was not sent to inspire moral change, but to accomplish salvation. Peace with God comes only through the removal of sin, and Jesus was born to do exactly that.
Every time we speak the name of Jesus at Christmas, we are confessing our need for salvation. True peace rests not in the season, but in the Savior. Advent reminds us that God has come near and He has not left.

Reflection:
• How does the presence of Jesus bring you peace?
• Reflect on the name of Jesus and what that means for you.
Prayer:
Thank You for always being with me. When I feel tired or uncertain, remind me that I am not alone. Help me to rest in your presence today. In Jesus’ name, amen.
