Todayโ€™s Devotional: The Seed of Hope

Sunday, December 7

โ€œI will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.โ€

Genesis 3:15

After the fall, God did not leave Adam and Eve on their own. As they experienced sin and sorrow for the first time, He promised a Redeemer. The seed of a woman would defeat evil and restore what was lost. Hope was on the way.

Without hope, we wouldnโ€™t last another minute. Hope helps us to see past the moment and gives us vision for the future. When you go through a financial challenge or a health scare, you need hope. You need to know this is not the end. With God, there is always hope for tomorrow.

Hope begins with God, not us. We can trust that God is going to keep His promises no matter what. Because He was faithful yesterday, we know that He will be faithful tomorrow. The birth of Jesus was not a last minute plan, but a promise made at the beginning. He immediately gave them hope in their despair.

Hope is not wishful thinking, but trusting in the certainty of Godโ€™s plan. God always keeps His Word and provides a way of salvation. As we celebrate Christmas, it reminds us of the hope that we have in Christ. Jesus has won and Satan has been defeated. We can have confidence, joy and even anticipation for tomorrow. Our hope is not in circumstances or our own plan, but in Christ Himself.

Reflection:

โ€ข How does meditating on the promises of God bring you hope today?

โ€ข Spend a few minutes thinking about the faithfulness of God.

Prayer:

Thank You for keeping your promises. Fill me with hope as I follow You. Help me to trust in your plan. In Jesusโ€™ name, amen.
