Japan elects first female prime minster

We are praying for the new Prime Minister of Japan, Sanae Takaichi. She is the first woman to become prime minister and a hard line conservative. She is also from Nara, where we lived for 5 years.

Many people don’t know this, but Japanese people are very conservative both politically and socially. People assume that because of anime and pop culture that they are wild / artistic / offbeat. Japan is a society of contrasts. A lot of the expression in manga and anime is due to the conformity expected in other areas of life.

Japanese society places a very high value on maintaining harmony and avoiding social disruption. Men and women still fill very traditional roles. Their conservatism and “normalcy” is one of the reasons they have been so successful as a nation. Believing for many great days ahead for Japan! Looking forward to being there next month. 🇯🇵🗾🙏
